Family Relationship Centres
The family relationship centres have been established for parties to attempt mediating their disputes prior to filing an application in court. The process is called “family dispute resolution” and is held at many centre open and run around the country. Click here to see where your closest centre is.
This is a compulsory process and once completed, a certificate is issued which will allow parties to approach the court and seek orders regarding parenting matters.
There are exceptions to having to take part in the compulsory mediation process such as where there is a risk of harm or abuse to the child.
